Seasonal Farm Worker

Five Tales Farm is seeking seasonal team members to join us from November 2026 through April 2027 for our peak growing season.

This is a full-time, physical role suited to someone who values purposeful work, can maintain a steady pace, and takes pride in doing things well.

About the Role

This is a hands-on field and pack-shed role, working across the full cycle of production, including:

  • Daily harvesting of crops

  • Washing, sorting, and packing produce for chefs and local customers

  • Nursery work, including seeding and transplanting

  • Planting and weeding

  • Greenhouse production work

  • General farm maintenance and occasional tractor operation

Work is physically demanding and takes place outdoors in all conditions. We move at a consistent, productive pace, with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail at every stage—from harvest through to packing.

Who We’re Looking For

Previous farming experience is not required—but the right attitude and capability are essential.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Maintains steady, focused work across full days

  • Has strong attention to detail

  • Is organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively

  • Can manage multiple responsibilities at once

  • Can structure their time and work efficiently within a team

  • Communicates clearly (strong English required)

  • Values quality, consistency, and reliability

  • Contributes positively to a community-minded work environment

Season & Longer-Term Opportunity

The core season runs from November through April, covering our peak production period.

For the right candidates, there is potential to transition into longer-term, full-time roles beyond the season. We are actively building a strong, committed team and prioritise applicants who are interested in contributing beyond a single season.

  • Living in Australia or planning to stay here in the long term

  • Can attend a trial day on the farm

  • Are looking for stability and growth within a farm business

  • Award Horticulture wage

  • Accommodation available (shared or private options)

  • Full-time role: November – April

  • Location: Five Tales Farm, West Gippsland, VIC

  • A car is required for rural living

A Note on the Work

Our season is a season of real farm work—physically demanding, repetitive at times, and shaped by the weather.

It suits people who enjoy both physical work and the mental organisation required to keep a farm running smoothly.
